Casca
キャスカ
Casca is a former commander of the Band of the Hawk and Guts' lover who suffers greatly during the Eclipse.
Overview
Casca is the only female commander in the Band of the Hawk in Berserk and the main heroine of the series. Rescued as a girl by Griffith, she devotes herself to him and rises to become his most trusted officer, initially resenting Guts as a threat to their unity.
Over the Golden Age arc she and Guts fall in love, and she leads the Hawks during Griffith's imprisonment. The Eclipse leaves her branded and traumatised, and she spends years in a childlike state while Guts fights to protect her, until a journey to the island of Elfhelm restores her mind.
Casca's competence as a warrior and the cruelty of her fate make her one of the manga's most discussed characters. She is voiced by Yuko Miyamura in the 1997 anime and Toa Yukinari in later adaptations, and by Carrie Keranen in English.
