Overview
Naruto Uzumaki is the protagonist of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014 and was adapted into two long-running anime series by Studio Pierrot. Orphaned on the night of his birth, he grows up in the Hidden Leaf Village as the jinchuriki of the Nine-Tailed Fox, Kurama, and is shunned by villagers who fear the beast sealed inside him.
Loud, stubborn and endlessly optimistic, Naruto declares early on that he will become Hokage so the village will finally acknowledge him. Under teachers Iruka, Kakashi and Jiraiya he develops signature techniques such as the Shadow Clone Jutsu and the Rasengan, and later masters Sage Mode and Kurama's chakra.
Across Naruto and Naruto Shippuden his rivalry and friendship with Sasuke Uchiha drives the story, culminating in the Fourth Great Ninja War. In the sequel Boruto he has achieved his dream, serving as the Seventh Hokage and raising a family with Hinata Hyuga.
