Overview
Emma is the protagonist of The Promised Neverland, the manga by Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu adapted by CloverWorks in 2019. An eleven-year-old orphan at Grace Field House, she is one of the home's three brightest children alongside Norman and Ray, and adores their caretaker, whom they call Mom.
The story begins when Emma and Norman discover that the orphanage is a farm raising children as food for demons. Emma's defining choice is to refuse to escape without every single child, and her optimism and athleticism make her the group's leader during the escape and the search for the outside world.
Her red hair, number 63194 neck tattoo and unwavering compassion made her one of the most popular shonen heroines of the late 2010s. She is voiced by Sumire Morohoshi in Japanese and Erica Mendez in English.
