Overview
Chuya Nakahara is an executive of the Port Mafia in Bungo Stray Dogs, named after the real Japanese poet. Short, stylish and short-tempered, he is the former partner and eternal rival of Osamu Dazai, with whom he formed the feared duo Double Black.
His ability, Upon the Tainted Sorrow, lets him manipulate gravity, and its uncontrolled form, Corruption, makes him a walking catastrophe that only Dazai's nullification can stop. Chuya's origins as a vessel for the god Arahabaki are covered in the light novel Fifteen and the anime's third season.
Despite being a mafioso he is honourable and loyal to his subordinates, and his dynamic with Dazai has made him one of the most popular characters in the series. He is voiced by Kisho Taniyama in Japanese and Ian Sinclair in English.
