Overview
Zero Two is the female lead of Darling in the FranXX, the 2018 mecha series produced by Trigger and CloverWorks under A-1 Pictures. Code-named 002, she is a human-klaxosaur hybrid with pink hair, small red horns and a reputation as the "Partner Killer" because the pilots paired with her in the FranXX Strelizia rarely survive more than a few sorties.
Her story turns when she meets Hiro, a washed-out parasite who can pilot with her without dying. Calling him her "darling", Zero Two gradually reveals the loneliness and longing to become human that lie under her taunting, confident surface.
Her design, teasing catchphrases and emotionally charged romance made her one of the most recognizable anime characters of the late 2010s. She is voiced by Haruka Tomatsu in Japanese and Tia Ballard in English.
