Ryuuji Takasu
高須竜児
Ryuuji Takasu is the male lead of Toradora, a kind boy whose scary face belies his gentle nature and love of cleaning.
Overview
Ryuji Takasu is the male lead of Toradora!. Because of his intimidating eyes, inherited from his absent yakuza father, classmates assume he is a delinquent, when in reality he is a gentle homemaker who cooks, cleans obsessively and cares for his young single mother Yasuko.
He forms a pact with his neighbour Taiga Aisaka to help each other win over their crushes, and the series follows their growing intimacy through the school festival, a Christmas party and a ski trip. Ryuji's kindness toward Taiga, including feeding her daily, is the foundation of their romance.
His ordinary decency and the realistic way the story treats his feelings make him one of the more grounded protagonists of the genre. He is voiced by Junji Majima in Japanese and Erik Scott Kimerer in English.
