Yoichi Isagi
潔世一
Isagi is the protagonist of Blue Lock, a striker who enters the Blue Lock program to become Japan's best striker.
Overview
Yoichi Isagi is the protagonist of Blue Lock, the soccer manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura adapted by Eight Bit in 2022. An unremarkable high school forward, he is invited to the Blue Lock project, a brutal training facility where three hundred strikers compete to become the egoistic striker who will lead Japan to a World Cup.
Isagi's weapon is spatial awareness: he reads the flow of a match and positions himself for goals before others see them. Through selection rounds and matches against players such as Rin Itoshi, he evolves from a passive team player into a striker who devours the talents of those around him.
His constant self-analysis and "puzzle piece" imagery made Blue Lock a hit with viewers who rarely watch sports anime. He is voiced by Kazuki Ura in Japanese and Ricco Fajardo in English.
